March Bakedown

About Maria:

Maria Miles, age 40, is most known for: making tall cakes, having 5 kids (with age gaps of 2, 3, 4, and 5 years), wearing joggers year-round/complaining about jeans aka leg-prisons, and finding new hikes around MA and VT. She is less known for her other skills of: so frequently speaking in a fake British accent at home that she is likely the cause of her nearly 2 year-old’s speech delay, always picking the right size tupperware for leftovers, very slowly crocheting lopsided blankets, and turning Primary hymns into irreverent pop songs. She most enjoys baking when there is no one else in the kitchen (which hasn’t happened since 2019).

  1. We think her sour cream pie crust is the best crust ever created. And every time I make it (which is only twice) I am so nervous about messing it up. I’m not sure it’s possible to mess it up.

  2. Related to pie, but not apple/cranberry. It’s PI day tomorrow, so here are some PIes (chicken pot pie) that I made….a day early…that are also uncooked, because I took a picture before they were done because I was afraid the PI symbol would shift when it was baking, but it didn’t and they actually looked pretty after…but I forgot to take a picture before I ate them!

    Also, pretend my oven is really not that dirty!

  3. Our delicious pie has a maniacal scowl! Scott and I thought it was delicious maybe a little rich. Sawyer gave it a 3.5/5 and Tessa was not happy at all about the cranberries. Apple pie blasphemy! Her reaction was similar to the scowl on our pie.

  4. We are not pie people over here but I went for it, cursing Maria’s name every step of the way 🙂 🙂 The pie crust was not my friend (probably why we’re not pie people) but I think I made it work. I liked the dimension the lemon juice & almond extract gave the filling.
